'All Over The World' sounds as fresh as it did when I first heard it in the '60s, and still breaks me up when I play it today. One of the all time greatest pop recordings. Like the song that never ages; from pictures I have seen, Ms Hardy is still as beautiful as ever. Thanks for the song that marked an important moment in my life.

Hi, I started listening to french music when I started to learn french language. So Francoise came to me; she and Gainsbourg, Briggite Bardot, Silvie Vartan, Jane Birkin, etc. But now I am looking for new french rock music. If there is anybody there that know about all-times rock artists, please let me know... all I need so a few names to keep going with my personal searching.
Au revoir... Martín

I've become absolutely obsessed with Francoises voice and the groove from the song "Comment Te Dire Adieu". I wonder if someone could direct me to other songs of her in that style (jazzy, cool, melancholic). I gather that Serge Gainsbourg wrote the song and I would like to start a voyage into this style of music, preferrably french. Do anyone of you know of good playlists to guide me?
If anyone has any links, tips or other info don't hesitate to e-mail me on the above address (remove the N_O_S_P_A_M part first...)
By the way, I big thanks to Warren Gilbert for this magnificient site!
Cheers, David

Ciao! Best wishes for the future
P.S.Sono felice che esista questo sito e che "Tout les garçons et les filles" fan di Françoise siano davvero "all over the world"!

Saluti a chi condivide com me cio' che ho scritto, e agli altri... beh lasciamo perdere! Salvatore

I am working nightshift tonight and in the peace and the quiet I started thinking about life in general when for no apparent reason the music for All Over the World came into my head. This song came out the same time as I started going out with the girl who became my wife and has remained so ever since. It became 'our' song. Sadly I haven't heard it played for many years, perhaps I can pick up a copy somewhere. Francoise, thank you for a beautiful song sung so beautifully also thank you for the memories that became attached to it.
Take care

John Arild Stubberud (from Oslo, Norway) visited on Monday, July 11, 2005 and said: -

I just need some help in tracing down the truth in Francoise Hardy recording a french version of the Swedish "Livet Går Sin Gång" - English version "Language Of love" recorded by Lena Andersson, (but not interantionally released). I don't seem to find this anywhere, but then again I don't know the French title nor lyrics... Composed by Benny Andersson/Björn Ulvaeus/Stig Anderson (yes, the ABBA boys).
The song was written in 1971 and possibly released late that year or in early '72 by Lena, so I assume Francoise's version is made after that.
Anyone who knows?

Grazie Francoise

I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I have an mp3 copy of 'Les Jeux Interdits' labelled as Marie Laforet & Francoise Hardy. Do you know if they ever performed this song as a duet? I thought it might be mis-labelled, but it does sound like there are two singers on this. Thanks.

I had your album with "All Over the World" in 1972. Someone stole the album. So all these years later, I went on an internet search to find the song and download it. Now I listen to it often. It reminds me of an unrequited love for an English gentleman.

Warren,
What a delight is is to visit this web-site again and go to the "music" page... and find Francoise's first album's songs there... while Francoise has evolved through the years... to my own musical "sensibilities" this early period is the "sound" I most enjoy. Francoise brings such a "joy of life" and "feel" to each song!... ahh... it makes one wish that he was young again... or at least "younger"... but youth is an elusive reality... and yet it is perennial... it is a thought... a scent... a sound... and a song sung by Francoise Hardy!
Thanks again for the marvelous magical web-site devoted to a marvelous magical singer/songwriter (girl/woman/author... the list can go on and on... ha!)

It is such a shame that Francoise will not perform live again. I guess that, like most males who were young adults in the 60's, I was passionately in love with her. I memorised some of her songs (although I hardly speak French at all) and the fixation never really went! Well, you know what they say about first love...
Anyway, keep up the good work

It is so hard to find Francoise's albums here in Sydney, especially the more recent titles. I still have my vinyl from the 60s but only found a Vogue "best of" compilation recently in a second-hand CD shop. Then - voila! - a new shop has opened locally with lots of Francoise. Instant wallet casualty! I especially love "Gin Tonic" - very funky! I'm on the lookout for "Le Danger" after viewing the wonderful clips on Francoise's official site. This is STILL the best site on the net and I've introduced it to many friends who (used to) ask "Francoise who?" Well done, Warren!

Publication of 3rd album of FRANÇOIZ BREUT : UNE SAISON VOLÉE, with 4 mini-books illustrating each one a song, including one created in 1963 by FRANÇOISE HARDY : Le premier bonheur du jour. A beautiful hommage to Françoise.

Francoise has been my favourite singer ever since I fell in love with the picture of her on the e.p. of the Eurovision entry in 1963, "L'amour s'en va", which my penfriend bought for me. I have never seen her live unfortunately, - maybe one day. In the meantime could you please tell me how I could obtain an up to date signed photo of her - I think that she is as beautiful now as she ever was - I have seen the article about her in this month's Saga magazine and the photo of her in it is lovely. She still has that "je ne sais quoi" that dreams are made of.

As I was checking the web for the release dates of some of my old LPs, I stumbled upon this site and couldn't help reading all those wonderful words of praise about Françoise Hardy, my all-time favourite female singer in the 60s. Since then, I've moved on to Progressive Rock but have kept all of her LPs. I still intend to hold on to them them except three, which I'd be willing to depart with because I prefer her singing in French. They are "Françoise Hardy Sings", "Alone" and "Françoise & Udo", all in relatively good condition as I've practically never played them and kept them well stored. If you're interested, write me a note at electric_marmelade@yahoo.com (obviously, I can only give them to the first person who writes).
Also, in answer to Mr. Omer Wattier from Belgium who, last January, enquired about his wife's astrological sign: M. Wattier, votre femme est définitivement née sous le signe du Sagittaire. (I don't know if this has anything to do with my being born on January 17, like Françoise, but I've been dabbling in astrology for several years - perhaps the blood runs in the Capricorn family... :-) Cheers to you all and keep the romantic flame alive.

Hi to all, and a special thank you to you Warren. Just had to say how beautiful the new album is. I find that I cannot get some of the songs out of my head. Play it quite a lot at work on small pc loudspeakers. Does tend to annoy some junior engineers in 30's who are not yet educated! Doesn't compare at all with headphones that I am using at this moment. Wonderful! Have been a fan since buying 'All over the world' in the 60's. Had quite a few gap years, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Moody Blues, Leonard Cohen etc. These days, I tend to listen to 'real' music, like Francoise. My wife is very jealous that I adore Francoise (we are both in early 50's). Even my pc at work has two desktop pictures of Francoise, one from 60's and one far more recent.
Oh well, music almost finished, soon time for bed.
Peace, enjoyment and best wishes to all Francoise Hardy fans, wherever you are 'all over the world'.

Or am I wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Warren!
Best regard, Claude-Alain.

(In answer to Sebastien Malengreaux. At the end of the Sixties on French TV there was a very popular programme called DIM INJURY DOM produced by Daisy de Gallard. This programme reviewed fashion and all the arts in general. In 1967, Francoise Hardy was the presenter of one of these programmes.
Under the pretext of wearing various clothing created by the fashion designer Andre Courrèges, there was a little story played by FH and J Dutronc. We often see short extracts of this programme on TV. Notably that where she sings in Italian "la maison où j'ai grandi" stretched out in an armchair with her guitar and of course the one where she is in the studio with Dutronc recording "Har-dy Du-tronc" written especially and only for this programme. She summarizes the simple story, which had been shown in pictures.
"- I ran here and there.
 - But I too was there.
 - Why always behind me?
 - Because I always think of you.")

(I have already written once to this guest book, and I am still just as passionate about Françoise Hardy. I adore her new album, so pure and so touching at the same time! I also found another very beautiful site where one can listen to loads of rare titles, in public etc...: www.fhardy.de then CD-Collections, and in the middle of the page there are CDs from a personal collection in Italian, English, live, duets... But where can I find live recordings and all these English titles? Is there a CD of unreleased songs? In January there was also a very beautiful documentary on Françoise Hardy, and there I saw some pictures of a duet that she made with Jacques Dutronc that I do not know: Har-Dy Du-Tronc. When does this song go back to, and does it exist as a single or LP (or even better on CD)?
Haven't you thought about creating a Forum to discuss Francoise Hardy? I think it would be a great success! There are plenty of forums for Cloclo and Johnny, so why not for Francoise Hardy?)

Hello again Sébastien. I am in full agreement that Tant de belles choses is excellent.
The site www.fhardy.de is run by Rolf Ludwig from Germany. Many of the songs you have discovered there have never been officially released; some have been recorded from TV shows; some from studio recordings that were rejected. As far as I can see, all the English songs featured have, at some time, been released officially.
The song "Har-Dy Du-Tronc" was from a TV show, I don't know exactly when; again, never released in any format.
Yes, I have thought about a forum for Françoise. I really can't see the advantage of a forum over this guest book. It would still have to be moderated - some messages that I receive now are inappropriate for various reasons; I also imagine that there would be far more messages about Cloclo or Johnny than Françoise Hardy. So, until anything changes, I think things will continue as they are for now.

Hello, I am Canadian from Vancouver and I must say I love Francoise Hardy a lot. I am originally from Saigon, Vietnam and back in the 70s, many songs of Francoise Hardy were sung by the local singers both in French and in Vietnamese. Back then, Francoise and many other French singers like Sylvie Vartan, Christophe, Dalida... had a great influence in the Vietnamese POP music. Even now, le temps de l'amour, Tous les garcons... Mon amie la rose... are still very popular... I would love to see Francoise Hardy tour in Vietnam or at least in Saigon. Jane Birkin and many other French singers have done... If she ever does, I surely will not miss that show.
Merci Francoise!
Fan,Le Van Chu

Hello Le Van Chu, and thank you for your message. Yes, I have heard some of Françoise's songs sung by Vietnamese singers - fascinating! Sadly, you will not be seeing Françoise tour in Vietnam or anywhere else. Her last solo performance was in the late 1960s, and she now concentrates on song-writing and recording in the studio.

Francoise's album Francoise Hardy sings in English, was one of the few pleasures I and my sisters had as children, we came from a very poor family, but listening and dancing to that album helped us to forget our worries. Unfortunately we played the record so much, and as children we didn't really look after it properly, it's now unplayable. Of course, I've bought all the compilations I can find, but I wish somebody could let me know if they have a copy, preferably on CD that I might buy. Thanks, and to anybody who was involved in creating those beautiful songs, who might be reading this, I can't really express how much pleasure your work has given me, but Thank you!

Hello Richard. Thank you for your message. My copy of this album was well played too, and became very worn. All the songs from the album were released on CD in France and South Africa in 1988, but the CD is almost impossible to find now.

Hello Sue. Françoise certainly still writes - both songs, and books on astrology. Singing - only in the studio for record production. Unfortunately, Françoise's last concert was towards the end of the 1960s.

Grosses bises

Hello Tim. I was 15 in 1964 when I first started listening to Françoise. It's a fine target to own all of her CDs. Certainly all the CD releases of Françoise's original albums is a good idea, but there have been so many compilations over the years, it would be very difficult to find them all now. Have fun trying.

Great site, beautiful pictures! Françoise was my older sister's "idole", we used to listen to "Le premier bonheur du jour" & "Ton meilleur ami". Back in the sixties, I read Mlle Age Tendre... I became a fan in the 70s when she collaborated with Michel Berger and "MESSAGE PERSONNEL" was a big fav. She was and still is a beautiful woman, very photogenic. Jean-Marie Périer took the best pictures of her. Read Jacques Dutronc's bio (just out). Anyway, love the site. Tks.

Hello Annelies. Thank you for your kind comments on the site and your memories of Françoise. There seem to be many of us who were fans in the 60s who are still fans now - all credit to Françoise and the way her music has developed over the years. Agreed, Jean-Marie Périer's photographs were very special, and he was a great influence on Françoise at the time.

I need to know if her albums are available in the UK, in particular the earlier material. My all time favourite number is:- "Comment te dire adieu". Any idea where I can get it from?

Hello Kit. Françoise's albums are not generally available in the UK. A few compilation CDs have been released here, and some of the larger record stores do import her CDs from France. There are Internet sites with good selections of Françoise Hardy CDs - particularly FNAC (www.fnac.com) and Amazon (www.amazon.fr) and they will deliver all over the world. Most of the early albums, including Comment te dire adieu, have been released on CD recently and are still available to buy.
