Jeremy Richey (from Lexington, Ky, USA) visited on Thursday, 30 December, 1999 and said:-

I am a twenty six year old writer living in Richard Hell's hometown of Lexington, Ky. I discovered Françoise's music about a year and a half ago. I was surprised that I hadn't years ago since I am such a Francophile....but she came at the right time.
I find her music and voice to be among the most haunting I have ever heard. I am so grateful to her and her music which has made a very difficult year for me a little easier. I feel blessed everytime I hear her voice.

Hello Jeremy, and welcome. Your feelings about the songs of Françoise are true for so many fans. Having discovered her so recently, you have a lot of catching up to do - have fun.

Thierry (from Switzerland) visited on Monday, 27 December, 1999 and said:-

I'm 31 and I discover FH in 1996 with the incredible and phenomenal album "Le Danger". Since I have bought all the original albums I could find (most on the Web). My problem: I'm looking for songs such as "Au fil des nuits et des journées", "J'ai coupé le téléphone", "L'heure bleue", "Des bottes rouges de Russie", "Femme parmi les femmes" and so on. But it seems impossible to find them on CD (although we can find so many IDENTICAL compilations...)!!! If some of the readers have a tip!
Following this way, we can legitimately ask: "When will there be an INTEGRAL of ALL Françoise Hardy's songs???". Maybe just a question of money between record companies...
But with the fusions of all records companies, maybe will this dream come true...
Gratulation for this site!

Hello Thierry, thank you for visiting. Some of the songs you mention have appeared on CD, but not recently, and others, so far, have not. Because of the different ownership rights of Françoise's songs over the years, I think it is very unlikely that there will ever be a definitive collection released. But we can always hope.

Didier Aramos (from Barcelone, Espagne) visited on Monday, 27 December, 1999 and said:-

(I write in French because my English is not excellent. The last disc that I heard is a "trio" with Sylvie Vartan, Etienne Daho and Françoise Hardy who sing together (and so nicely) "On se ressemble". The video is very beautiful and the song of Sylvie Vartan remarkably interpreted by Françoise and her two friends. And the interview of Françoise is excellent: it's a pity that she is not on TV more often.
Listen to this song, it is really super.)

Hello Didier, thank you for your message. Yes, "Quelqu'un qui m'ressemble" is a nice song to hear. I have not seen the video, but can imagine how it would be. And Françoise always interviews so well ...

José Hernández (from Barcelona, Spain) visited on Monday, 27 December, 1999 and said:-

(It is always with much pleasure when I sometimes hear Françoise on the radio with songs like "Tous les garçons..." or "La rose". With Sylvie Vartan, they are the only French women who have had success here and who have left so many memories here of France. What a pity that they do not come more often see us. To buy CDs of my two adorable French women, I go to Fnac in Barcelona and I always find what I want.
The site is great, it must continue.)

Hello José thank you for your comments. It's good to hear that Françoise is still played on Spanish radio. And how lucky you are to have a source of French CDs so close to hand.

Kelly Haines (from San Francisco, USA) visited on Sunday, 26 December, 1999 and said:-

Really informative site. Any plans for audio clips in the future?

Hello Kelly, thank you for your comments. Yes, I may try to add some audio clips soon.

Xavier (from Catalogne, Spain) visited on Tuesday, 21 December, 1999 and said:-

Quel bel page!

Josep González Vidal (from València, Spain) visited on Wednesday, 15 December, 1999 and said:-

Hello. I've just discovered Françoise Hardy (I'm 28 years old) and I've found your site searching for the lyrics of some of her songs. I think your site is very complete and interesting for people who want to know more about her. I wonder if you can put some sort of video file of her in your site, so the rest of the people can enjoy it.
Thank you and congratulations.

Hello Josep. Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, at the moment, I don't have the facilities to create video files, and I believe that for anything worthwhile, the file sizes would be rather large. But maybe, one day ...

Francisco Amaral (from Coimbra, Portugal) visited on Tuesday, 7 December, 1999 and said:-

I'm trying to buy a CD with the song "On se quitte toujours" and others from the Vogue Years but I don't found it anywhere. Someone can help? Oh! I wish to receive some lines from Françoise. Please don't be so distant, drop me a line. Desesperated seeking "On se quitte toujours" ...

Hello Francisco, what excellent timing you have.
A 3CD box set was released on 8th November 1999 entitled "Les années Vogue 1962/1967". It contains 54 tracks, and is available (currently at 347F) from FNAC.
There is a full track list on Georg Rommerskirchen's discography site.

Joachim Philippi (from Germany) visited on Wednesday, 24 November, 1999 and said:-

Congratulations for that very informative site. Perhaps someone can help me. Where can I get the CD?

All Over The World
Vogue 7432 1 258032
France, 1995

Amazon.com and CD4you don't have it. Thank you for your help.

Hello Joachim, thank you for your comments. I have seen this CD in the shops in the UK recently, but I cannot remember where. If you like, I will look again, and would gladly send it to you at cost.

PS - Joachim told me later that he had found the CD at CDNow.

Adrian White (from United Kingdom) visited on Monday, 15 November, 1999 and said:-

Hi, hello. Been a fan for many years. Really enjoyed your site. Will return often. Merci.

Hello Adrian, thank you for your message. I will try to keep the site updated to make your return visits worthwhile.

Francesco Di Bella (from Italy) visited on Friday, 12 November, 1999 and said:-

By lucky chance I came across this wonderful website dedicated to lovely Françoise, and couldn't believe my eyes: to put it blunt, it's simply one of the ten best websites I've ever visited. It's a mine of information: international discographies, pics, magazines, lyrics. It's all there. As an Italian fan, I've always wondered why there haven't been CD releases containing all of her Italian recordings from the 60's, which are really great. The two CDs listed have been long deleted stock, and I find it incredible that no record company has re-issued them so far. Does anybody know if a CD of Françoise's songs in Italian is on its way? I would certainly appreciate that. Keep up the wonderful work, and thank you very very much for all the items on Françoise that you have displayed: who could ask for more?

Hello Francesco. Thank you for your message and you compliments on the site. However, I must point out first that the discography is the work of my friend Georg Rommerskirchen. Also, many of the other items - pictures, magazines and lyrics - have been donated by other fans and friends, and thanks must go to them. As far as I know, only a few of the Italian songs have appeared on CD, and I think it highly unlikely that they ever will do now. But we can always hope ...

Amancio Reino (from Santiago de Compostela, Spain) visited on Friday, 5 November, 1999 and said:-

Hello everybody! I'm a 21 years old Spanish guy who loves Françoise since 1994. I've never seen her before, but when I heard "L'amour d'un garçon" I felt in love with her. I would like to see almost one of her films, but I don't now how I could shop it. Well, I want to meet another Françoise's fans, so, if you want a Spanish friend, send me a message to: .
I hope hear from you soon. Bye!

Hello Amancio. Information on Françoise's films can be found in Pink Frankenstein's pages, and some of them can be purchased through the internet, but only in the North American NTSC format.

David B. Neale (from Burbage, Leicestershire, UK) visited on Friday, 22 October, 1999 and said:-

A terrific Web Site! Congratulations to whoever has produced this material on a singer so many of us love so much, and a sincere thank-you.
I do have a query; and I would be so very grateful if someone could be of help. I have three of the "Françoise Hardy - Story" compact discs, but I have been unable to obtain the disc "Françoise Hardy - Story 1965-67". If there is anyone who can advise me on where I might find a copy, I shall not only be grateful, but will happily also donate £20 to a charity of their choice.
I look forward to seeing this site develop further.

Hello David, thank you for your comments. Much of what appears on the site is from my own collection, but I have had plenty of help from fans and friends "all over the world". I found the CD you are looking for in Paris, probably around 1990, but have not seen it anywhere recently, so it is probably only available second hand now.
Can anybody else help?
I have just returned from a trip to Europe, so some new items will be appearing shortly.

Sung Chul Kim (from College Park, Maryland, USA) visited on Sunday, 17 October, 1999 and said:-

This is a complete page of Françoise Hardy. So nice but no MP3...

Hello Sung Chul Kim, thank you for your message. At the moment, I do not have the facility to create MP3 files, but is something I may look at next time I upgrade my hardware.

Francisco Amaral (from Portugal) visited on Saturday, 16 October, 1999 and said:-

Fantastic site. I was lost in the net looking for a wonderful song by Françoise : On se quitte toujours! And suddenly ... your page. The elegance and class coming from Françoise will always stay in the history of 20th century pop music. Not only French music ... Do you know about some fans in Portugal? I remember to see her in the Portuguese TV, in the 60's. I was just a litle kid, but her voice and face never get out of my head. Thank you for excellent work.

Hello Francisco, thank you for your comments. I have heard from only one other fan in Portugal, so far. But it's wonderful to hear from someone else who has been affected Françoise's haunting voice.

Wil Alveno (from El Salvador, living in Maryland, USA) visited on Tuesday, 12 October, 1999 and said:-

Does Françoise Hardy know that the "tune" of her song "Tous les garçons et les filles" is used in one of Latin-America's most favourite evangelical Christian choruses? - There is virtually no Hispanic evangelical in the Spanish-speaking world (or anywhere in the world for that matter) that has not heard the chorus "Quiero Cantar una Linda Cancion".
This chorus happens to be one of my favourites and I am giving you below the most common used translation for it. Maybe you want to include it in your website if Ms. Hardy does not object. I am sure that she will feel good knowing that such a beautiful music has been used to bring so much joy and happiness to everyone that sings it. Millions of Christians in the Americas know this song very well. Unfortunately, I have ever hardly see credits been given to Ms. Hardy; BUT I ASSURE YOU - that we will spread the word on this.

(the approximate translation in English is as follows)

I want to sing the most beautiful song,
to a man who my life has transformed.
I want to sing the most beautiful song,
to a man who my life has so changed.

He is Jesus my friend, He's the most faithful friend,
He is God, He is King, He is Love and the Truth.
Only in him, I could find such a wonderful peace,
only in him, I could find such a happiness.

Hello Wil, thank you for your message. It's fascinating to hear about this tune being used in this way, so soon after hearing about its use in an Italian hymn. I'm sure Françoise would be very interested.
I wonder if your chorus is available anywhere on CD ...

David Neale (from UK) visited on Friday, 8 October, 1999 and said:-

For all of the time you have been singing, no songs have moved me so. Your songs stole my heart. Thank-you so much.

Hello David, yes, Françoise has stolen many hearts over the years with her songs, including mine. Long may she continue.

Bill G. III (from USA) visited on Tuesday, 5 October, 1999 and said:-

Bravo on this most delightful of sites. There can never be enough Françoise Hardy on the Net. One listen to "Voila" & I was hooked. I do wish Françoise would authorize a video release of her 60's t.v appearances, as well as her promotional films. Thank you Françoise, for your hauntingly lovely music.

Hello Bill, thank you for your message. Yes, I'm sure if an official video was released, there would be much interest in it. Until then, we will have to make do with any replays we can capture from the TV.

David Brand (from Brighton, UK) visited on Monday, 4 October, 1999 and said:-

A brilliant site - many thanks!

Hello David, thank you for visiting, and thank you for the comments - appreciation by fellow fans makes it all worthwhile.

Alex Sydorenko (from Chicago, USA) visited on Monday, 4 October 1999 and said:-

Françoise, you are a French goddess.

Hello Alex. Hear, hear! What can I add?

Gerry Singleton (from Fremantle, Western Australia) visited on Sunday, 12 September, 1999 and said:-

This is a most remarkable site, I have already spent a couple of hours just reading about Françoise but the totally magic thing are the pages of lyrics. Recently I bought a couple of Françoise's CDs following a memory jog from a friend about a show at the Savoy in London (circa 1964?) where I saw Françoise sing.
When I lived in England many years ago I had every LP Françoise had ever made, then when I joined the Merchant Navy my DEAR sister loaned them out to all and sundry when I was away at sea, and I never got them back.
Now I have two CDs and the lyrics on this site (which is ear-marked under several names so I don't lose contact) The two CD's are just the beginning!!, I intend to buy ALL of Françoise's music and all because I found this site, it's marvellous.

Hello Gerry, thank you for your comments on the site. You are very lucky to have been able to see Françoise live. It was in 1964 that I became a fan, but did not know then of her live appearances. Sad that you no longer have her LPs, but there are plenty of CDs available through the internet if you can't find them in Australia. Best of luck.

Pietro Arnese (from Italy) visited on Saturday, 11 September, 1999 and said:-

When I first heard Françoise Hardy for the first time (1964), I was hooked. I was 14, did not understand a word of French, but THAT VOICE and her look have always stayed with me. I have much travelled, and I have much heard, but Françoise alone has remained in my heart. She has that rare quality to be able to speak to the heart. Today, I don't listen to worldly music anymore. I am a Christian, and I prefer to praise my Lord. Still, Françoise is the only singer whose music I have kept and that I am not embarrassed to let someone listen to. There is a simple, pure and captivating quality to her music. And that's quite an achievement.
PS - in our Italian praise book, there is a song that is a practically perfect copy of "Tous les garçons et les filles" (music-wise). Nobody has been able to tell me when this hymn was written. The name is "Voglio Cantar le mie Lodi al Signor." Can anybody help? Thanks and God bless you.

Hello Pietro, thank you for your message. Françoise seems to have had a similar effect on many of us. I'm sure she will be pleased to know that you can still listen to her songs. The hymn sounds very fascinating, and I would be interested if you do manage to find any more information about it.

John Free (from Sydney, Australia) visited on Tuesday, 31 August, 1999 and said:-

What a stunning site! I bought some of Françoise's records in the late sixties and I had no idea that she was still recording. She is still as beautiful today as she was 30 years ago. I'm looking forward to catching up with her more recent material. Congratulations on a fantastic and beautiful site.

Hello John, thank you for your message, and your comments on the site. It's interesting that 2 similar messages, both from Australia should arrive so close together. You have some excellent material to catch up on.

Malcolm Cumming (from NSW, Australia) visited on Sunday, 29 August, 1999 and said:-

Here I was sitting in Australia for the last 30 years with four Françoise Hardy L.P.'s that I still play all the time, wondering what had become of her and if she had made many more records. I had brought my L.P.'s with me when I emigrated from England and have heard nothing of her in all this time. We have lived in a backwater here until the arrival of the Internet - now I find she still has a huge following!! I must get hold of some of her C.D.'s. I love to hear singing in French, isn't it the sexiest language in the world and isn't she the most adorable singer? Thank you for this site and for all the information.

Hello Malcolm, thank you for your message. If you've not heard any new Françoise Hardy music for 30 years, then you have much to catch up on. But there are plenty of CDs that are easy to get hold of through the internet.
Yes, French is a wonderful language for singing, and especially by Françoise.

Fulvio Ladetto-Tamponi (from Torino, Italy) visited on Sunday, 29 August, 1999 and said:-

It's a very good site. I hope to find here as soon as possible other photos of the sweet, fine, lovable, unique Françoise.

Hello Fulvio, thank you for your message. I will do my best for more photos, but they are very difficult to find.

Bryony O'Toole (from UK) visited on Tuesday, 17 August, 1999 and said:-

Just a note to say I love your music and would love to see you in concert. Could you mail us your concert dates for 1999.

Hello Bryony, thank you for your message, and your interest in my Françoise Hardy pages.

These pages are not official, I am, just like you, a fan of Françoise.

Unfortunately, Françoise has not given a solo concert since the late 1960s, preferring to concentrate more on song-writing. She appears occasionally on television, and sang live with Julien Clerc at his concert in October 1998, but I don't think we can expect any more than that.

Angelie Ducasse (from Paris, France) visited on Tuesday, 10 August, 1999 and said:-

Je t'adore, Françoise Hardy!

Hallo Angelie, merci bien pour ces mots. C'est aussi vrai pour moi et beaucoup d'autres, je pense.

Laurent (from France) visited on Friday, 30 July, 1999 and said:-

Congratulations for that splendid site. I'd just thought you'd be interested to know that Françoise recorded a "trio" with fellow singers Etienne Daho and Sylvie Vartan a song composed by Daho and previously sung by Vartan, "Quelqu'un qui me ressemble". This recording appears on Sylvie Vartan's "Irresistiblement Sylvie" issued on June, 1999.

Hello Laurent, thank you for your message. Yes, I know about this song, and although I don't have the CD, I have a recording of the song made from a TV show. It is a very pleasant song which I play frequently. I did not know it was sung originally by Sylvie on her own.

Jules G. Savoie (from Greensboro, North Carolina, USA) visited on Friday, 30 July, 1999 and said:-

Wonderful web page. Being a contemporary of Françoise, she represents the values I grew up with and I always admired her voice.
However, I would like to make a suggestion: I think Françoise would be the best singer of a song by Chris Rea from his album "Auberge". Each time I listen to the song entitled "The mention of your name" (last track on the CD), I always hope that I won't die before we can all hear Françoise sing this "special" song.
But, what do I know???
Thanks again for doing a wonderful and honest job of honoring Françoise...

Hello Jules, thank you for your comments. I know this song, but not by Chris Rea. I will look it up, and have a listen.

Kevin (from London, UK) visited on Monday, 26 July, 1999 and said:-

Hi there,
Great Site and a great singer. If only I could find a girl who looked like that now! I was wondering if there are any songbooks known which have the guitar chords etc. to some of her tunes. I just want to strum along to "Comment te de adieu". I was in Paris last week but couldn't track anything down (hard enough finding anything except bread and beer).
I recommend Dominique A as well for a contemporary French musician. I would have like to have heard Franny with Scott Walker, Dusty Springfield and Gram Parsons doing a tune or two - "If you go away" perhaps with Motorhead on the backing...
Cheers, keep up the good work mate.

Hello Kevin, thank you for your comments. There are details of 3 Françoise Hardy songbooks on my Books page. 2 of these are quite recent, and are available from the publishers, Paul Beuscher, who have a shop near La Bastille in Paris. They are probably also available by post.
Françoise has performed a few very effective duets recently, and maybe your combination would have worked too, who knows?

Jeffrey St. Guillaume Olivier (from South Africa) visited on Sunday, 25 July, 1999 and said:-

We are starved for anything on Françoise, they lost the releasing rights to her music years ago and will not import any discs via France. The record outlets say it's too expensive and there's not much demand for her music nowadays. Most are happy with the usual early recordings on compilations, ie. best or greatest hits!
I was shocked to see how much she still recorded, which we had never even heard of. What I do need is an email address for a record company in Japan so that I may purchase via internet. Can anyone help? Another surprise was the amount of cd singles issued ----- I've been cheated and missed so much.
À bientôt Jeffrey.
PS. I'm so grateful for this web site.

Hello Jeffrey, thank you for your comments. There are many on-line sites where Françoise Hardy CDs may be bought. FNAC, based in France have an up-to-date selection, but you can find some others on Georg Rommerskirchen's home page. But, I have never seen any CD singles by Françoise Hardy available on the internet. Most of the ones I have were bought second hand, from Record Fairs or through a dealer.
There is only one Japanese site from which I have ever bought Françoise Hardy CDs.

Steven Szirotnyak & Laura Brooks (from Toledo/Detroit, USA) visited on Tuesday, 20 July, 1999 and said:-

Just completed a tour of your really gear site, thanks to a recently added link at one of the other pages. Thank you so much for your efforts! (Lyrics - yes!!!) Here in the Midwest, we are finding that everyone who hears Françoise becomes quite curious and wants to hear more. Unless you shop online, apart from a few CD comps, the pickings are slim in Detroit (nonexistent in Toledo), but on a recent trip to San Francisco we were surprised to find Tower Records overflowing with Hardy and Gall discs. We'll be off to Paris and Brussels for a few weeks this autumn; I'm sure we'll find F.H. vinyl scarce and pricey, but we are determined!
Thank you, and of course, thanks to F.H. for combining your music and your voice in such a way... that words now fail me!
Steve.

Hello Steve and Laura, thank you for your visit. The non-availability of Françoise Hardy CDs is similar in the UK too. Almost nothing available locally, some choice in the bigger cities, but it is only in London where there is a good selection. Watch out for JukeBox Magazine when you are in France; there may be a Record Fair near where you will be, and they also list some record dealers.

Tony (from Cape Town, South Africa) visited on Sunday, 18 July, 1999 and said:-

I have adored Françoise since I was about 15 years old. I saw her in concert twice when she visited South Africa in the late 1960's. 30 years later and I still listen to her records (all vinyl!) and have recently discovered her cd's! My big wish is that she will make another CD! Her best songs were and are the one's she writes herself. She stands next to Piaf (although very different) as the great chanteuse of the century. Françoise, je t'aime.

Hello Tony, you are very lucky to have seen Françoise perform twice! Some of the LPs she released in South Africa are quite unique and much sought after by collectors - look after them, and if you come across any other copies, I'm sure there would be many people who would be interested. A new album is on its way, but we will have to be patient a while longer.

Laura-Marie (from Georgia, USA) visited on Wednesday, 7 July, 1999 and said:-

I am a 26 year old female and have fallen in love with Ms. Hardy's music. It takes me to another world as soon as I play it. I am a huge fan of the "La Femme Nikita" show that airs on the USA network. They played one of her songs in the background and I instantly knew I would love Françoise's music, I just wish I heard of her sooner. It's nice to flee into another world every now and then. And like I said before, that is just what her music does to me! :-)
Thank you Françoise for your artistic beauty!
Your new fan, LAURA-MARIE

Hello Laura-Marie, thank you for your message. I'm sure Françoise would appreciate your love of her songs. I have never seen "La femme Nikita", but I believe from other references I have seen that the song you refer to is "Ma jeunesse fout le camp", which was originally released in 1967. I don't know how easy it is to find Françoise's music in the USA, but there are many sites on the internet which list her records.

Hans A A Müller (from Stockholm, Sweden) visited on Thursday, 1 July, 1999 and said (in a follow-up to his earlier message):-

About the "Ensemble F.H.". Most of the songs we play in the group is Françoise Hardy work, but all the songs is recorded by Françoise Hardy. From "Doigts", "Mer" to "Voyou Voyou". Now I try hard to get jobs.

Hello again Hans, thank you for your reply. Best of luck in finding bookings for your group. If you ever make a recording, let me know - I would be very interested to hear it.

Steve (from Australia) visited on Wednesday, 30 June, 1999 and said:-

Thanks for a great site! It's so hard to find info in the "real world" on this most remarkable and talented lady especially here in Australia. I've loved her music for years and can't stop buying everything of hers I see. I have so many greatest hits albums I must have 10 copies of each song! This doesn't matter to me as I'd gladly buy anything with her beautiful face on it :)
I was wondering if anybody who visits your site is into the music of Nick Drake? I have just finished reading a biography of him and there is a story concerning a meeting between him and Françoise. Unfortunately it didn't amount to anything musical as they were both so shy. I strongly urge fans of her music to check out Nick Drakes music. It has a similar feel and he is the most amazing guitarist I think I have ever heard. The Nick Drake files and the Nick Drake admiration page are both great sites where you can listen to samples of his work. Anyway ... thanks again and good work.

Hello Steve, thank you for your comments. Yes, there have been so many Françoise Hardy compilations released, it's very easy to have multiple copies of many songs. I've lost count of how many copies of "Tous les garçons et les filles" I have!
I have not heard any of Nick Drake's work, but I will certainly follow it up now.

Valerie Brooks (from Leaburg, Oregon, USA) visited on Sunday, 13 June, 1999 and said:-

Thank you for this incredibly comprehensive site. Magazine covers! Discovering Françoise is into astrology! I am a long time admirer. In 1964 I fell in love with the voice of a radio DJ, and in turn, won an album from my many calls to him. The album was "The Essential and the Existential: Mlle. Françoise Hardy in Her Greatest Songs", on Reprise. I fell in love with a new voice this time, a female voice that spoke universally to a generation, then continued to sing for a world in need of a pure heart. After I played that album to near extinction, I managed to find one other record by Françoise in our small music store in Laconia, N.H. As life was back then --full of wanderlust-- I moved many times and although I lost most of my record collection, including all my Beatles records, I held on to Françoise's albums. Today they are still playable although a little scratched. I was reminded of Françoise while reading Marianne Faithfull's autobiography "Faithful," (I highly recommend) in which Françoise is mentioned. Your site has rejuvenated my enthusiasm for her and her music. Thank you so much and am looking forward to your updates. The photos are divine. The discography couldn't be better. I know how much work this entails, so again, merci.

Hello Valerie, thank you for your message, and your interest in the Françoise Hardy pages. Your story about falling in love with Françoise's voice is interesting, because my interest in Françoise began when I heard her voice, also in 1964. Thank you also for the pointer to Marianne Faithfull's autobiography - I must try and find a copy.
PS Although you can reach the discography directly from my pages, it is the work of my friend Georg Rommerskirchen, so I will thank him on your behalf.

Ugo Giovenazzi (from Londrina, Parana, Brazil) visited on Friday, 4 June, 1999 and said:-

Everything here impressed me, Françoise Hardy work.....I didn't imagine the size of the work of Françoise. the information regarding Françoise and its work that are here available impressed me for the presentation and the wealth of details......congratulations!!!

Hello Ugo, thank you for your message and you comments on the site. Yes, Françoise has been recording for 37 years now, with a few breaks, in which time she has sung many lovely songs. And there is much more information that could be added here, too, given time ...

Manolo Ollero (from Spain) visited on Monday, 31 May, 1999 and said:-

I listened "Soleil" in 1970 when I was 14 years old. Since then I like Françoise. Thanks for this web site.

Hello Manolo, thank you for your message and you comments on the site. "Sol", the Spanish version of "Soleil" was one of only 2 songs that Françoise recorded in Spanish, the other being "El telefono corte".

Isa Hamilria Magalhães Barreira (from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil) visited on Friday, 28 May, 1999 and said:-

FRANÇOISE, YOU ARE THE BEST!

(a rough English translation)

Françoise Hardy has been dear to me since my adolescence. I always adored her and had her records. It's time that I looked for information on her because my records have been lost and I have never found any more to buy. I would love to have more recent information on her.

Hello Isa, thank you for your message and you interest in the site. There is a limited amount of information about Françoise on the internet, but there are many sites offering her CDs, and there is plenty of choice, of both original albums and compilations. Try some of the links from Georg Rommerskirchen's home page.

Dick Hollander (from Amsterdam, Holland) visited on Friday, 28 May, 1999 and said:-

Internet is still rather new to me. I discovered your site not so long ago. I like it very much. It also brought to the idea to ask you a favour. I have a big collection of singles, EPs, LPs and CDs of FH. But one CD/LP is missing: FH en Anglais. Maybe you could help me to get a copy, or one of the other visitors. It's possible also to make an exchange, I don't mind how much it will cost (well, OK, of course there is a limit). I hope I'll have some luck this time. Hope to hear from you or another visitor soon. Bye.

Hello Dick, thank you for your interest in the site. As far as I know, this album was only released on CD in Japan. There are some sites on the Internet that list the CD, so it may still be available. I bought the LP in England when it was released, but I don't think I have seen another copy since. The French release may be more readily available.
Can anyone help? If so, please reply through this page or directly.

Hans A A Müller (from Stockholm, Sweden) visited on Tuesday, 18 May, 1999 and said:-

I have read and looked at the most of the sides and I'm so happy that it is so much of you Françoise Hardy, so THANK YOU. I have started a music trio called "Ensemble F.H." The female singer is Sophi Guigard from France and the guitarist is also a very good musician and his name is Lennart Söderlund. And the third member of the group is me myself and my name is Hans A.A. Müller and I play bass. In this month of May 1999 we work on with the rehearsal. My address here in Sweden is
Hans A.A. Müller
Timmermansgatan 19
S-118 55 STOCKHOLM
SWEDEN
Our ambition is to be on stage in the late summer.

Hello Hans, thank you for your interest in the Françoise Hardy web pages. Good luck with the group. It sounds very interesting. Will you be singing Françoise's songs?

Rolf Ludwig (from Wulfen, Germany) visited on Saturday, 15 May, 1999 and said:-

(Thanks to Georg Rommerskirchen for the English translation)

Since I have listened again to the old German LP "Ein Portrait in Musik" - a time of about 30 years has passed - I'm infected by the Françoise virus now. I'm nearly only listening to Françoise's music and I'm searching everywhere for songs which I don't have yet. Your Internet pages are really great and I hope that many Françoise fans will detect them. Thanks a lot for this site. Unfortunately I don't speak English, so I had to write in German.
Many Greetings Rolf

Hello Rolf, thank you for your message. There are many Françoise Hardy compilation albums still available. If you can't find them in Germany, you should be able to locate many of them through the internet.

Pierre Herviou (from Paris, France) visited on Friday, 14 May, 1999 and said:-

Thank you for your guest-book where every fan of Françoise can read and express what we altogether feel. I bet all of her fans are concerned in a kind of melancholy, sadness and problems of communication (the famous "Décalages"). This guest-book is the proof that we are not alone with our own feelings. That's of great help to understand that other people share the same sentiments. And now that Françoise has answered herself, so kindly, we know that all this is worth it. Thank you Françoise and thanks in advance for the future recordings. Never stop please!

Hello Pierre, thank you for your message. Yes, it's nice to know that there are so many other fans out there who feel the same way, and express their feelings so well. I was delighted to hear from Françoise, not only for myself, but for all her fans who have visited these pages.

Jonathan Lim (from Sydney, Australia) visited on Thursday, 29 April, 1999 and said:-

Dear Françoise,

I was bout 3-4 years old when I listened my cousin playing on his turntable in the early 70s your song, "Only Friends", for 20 years I didn't know who you were till last year(1998) I found you again.
I am 33 now, I love you.. and I will always love you, je t'aime..... mon cheri...

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan, Françoise has been busy for those 20 years, and you probably have a lot of catching up to do. As far as I know, Françoise does not have access to the internet, but who knows, she may read your message one day.

On Sat, 24 April 1999, I wrote to Françoise, on behalf of all her fans, sending her a printed copy of the all the messages on this page.
On Tue, 4 May 1999, Françoise replied:-

Dear Warren,

Thank you for everything. As you know and as usual I don't have enough time to answer to everybody, but I am of course most deeply touched (moved?) by all the messages of sympathy and love.

Some fresh news: I have started recording for my new album. I recorded two weeks ago "Tears" from Django REINHARDT. His son - Babik - and mine - Thomas - have played the guitars. Next week I will record "Clair Obscur" from and with Khalil CHAHINE - a great guitarist - : beautiful song but very difficult to sing for a small voice as mine. I hope to record at least 2 other songs before July or even June. One of them: "Puisque vous partez en voyage" has been composed by my late friend MIREILLE in the 30s and I am going to sing it with my husband: it is a standard a bit forgotten, but very lovely, my favourite MIREILLE's song. The other one is "Otro muerto" from MECANO with my French lyrics they did not use but José María CANO allows me to use it for myself.

On this album we will put "Contre vents et marées" (I am very glad you "adore" it), and also the duet with Iggy POP of "I'll be seeing you". I will also have 3 Alain LUBRANO's songs I am very fond of. (Alain is a close friend and I did my last album with him.) Perhaps also a duet with Etienne DAHO of "So sad" from the EVERLY BROTHERS, THE song that influenced me most and gave me the "virus" for country and rock music.

As everybody I am very worried with, and frightened by Kosovo's war and all this bombing. Being busy with songs seems so derisory!

Can you consider this letter as a reply to all the kind messages and "pass them on" after having put right all my mistakes?

Très amicalement à vous et à tous les autres.

Françoise
  (Hardy)

Amancio Reino (from Santiago de Compostela, Spain) visited on Tuesday, 20 April, 1999 and said:-

WELL, I ALWAYS RETURN TO THESE PAGES, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD. I DISCOVER FRANÇOISE IN 1994 IN RADIO 3, IN "FLOR DE PASIÓN" OF JUAN DE PABLOS, AND, SINCE THEM, I FELL IN LOVE WITH FRANÇOISE. I WOULD LIKE TO MEET MORE SPANISH FRANÇOISE'S FANS.
BYE

Hello again Amancio. I have heard from a few Spanish fans of Françoise, so if you send me your E-mail address, I will let you know who they are. I'm sure they would be delighted to hear from you.

Lugrumante (from Spain) visited on Sunday, 11 April, 1999 and said:-

WELL, I THINK FRANÇOISE, EVEN YOU WITH SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PAGE, IS THE PERSON TO BLAME I'M NAIVE ENOUGH TO FEEL. A QUESTION FOR YOU: IS IT "COMPATIBLE" (I DO NOT KNOW THE RIGHT WORD IN ENGLISH) TO LOVE FRANÇOISE'S MUSIC, WHAT SHE MEANS, AND JOHN CASSAVETE'S CINEMA OR LATE MOVIES LIKE IDIOTERNE?
I'M SAGITARIUS

Hello Lugrumante, thank you for visiting. I think, and I'm sure Françoise herself and all her fans would agree, that her music has no bounds. Her songs have touched the hearts of people of many nationalities and with many other interests, and will hopefully continue to do so.

Fredrik Blei (from Amsterdam, Netherlands) visited on Sunday, 4 April, 1999 and said:-

Hello Warren. My first minutes on internet. How exiting! You have a wonderful site. I'm impressed. Next week you will receive a letter from me irl. :)

Hello Fredrik, thank you for visiting. It was good to meet you and all the other fans in Brussels. I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to the next get-together.

Very Very Nice !!!!
It's a real pleasure to be here !!!!!
Succes
Bye

Hello Nando, thank you for visiting. I see that you wrote this on Tuesday night.
On Tuesday, I was in Paris, and was there until Thursday. I had been first to Brussels where I met up with some other fans and we saw the film "Une Balle au Coeur" in which Françoise starred (in a small way). It was wonderful to be together with other fans.

José Carlos Nascimento (from Brazil) visited on Thursday, 18 March, 1999 and said:-

Do Seu Fã

José Carlos.

(a rough English translation)

Françoise,

I write to you in Portuguese, first because my English and French are not very good and because I want you to know that I like you very much and unhappily in Brazil your work is not published here, which is a pity. I live in Rio De Janeiro and I always liked your very pretty music and perfect work. I knew you when I heard "le Crabe" and the only disk that had this music, I lost (It was part of the soundtrack of a TV soap called "Carinhoso", published by Som Livre/1973). I await the launch here in Brazil of a compilation with all your hits. Congratulations for the Wonderful site and Count on my affection and friendship.

Your Fan

José Carlos.

Hello José, thank you for your message. I will try to pass it on to Françoise herself. There seem to be many Françoise fans in Brazil, and it is strange that the records do not seem to be available there.

Sofia Remse (from Sweden) visited on Monday, 1 March, 1999 and said:-

I really like this site, it's full of good information and lovely pictures! I am "only" 17 years old and have discovered Françoise about a year ago, she is my favourite singer and has really helped me with my French. I really admire her and she is a great role model for me also. That was all I wanted to say!

Hello Sofia. Thank you for visiting, and thank you for your comments. It's wonderful that there are fans of Françoise as young as yourself, as well as those as old as me, who have been listening to her music since she started singing back in the 1960s.

Joseph Goodrich (from New Orleans, USA) visited on Sunday, 28 February, 1999 and said:-

I must say the F. H. index is really quite impressive; volume (more info and more pictures) is about the only improvement I can think of. The only Françoise H. fan I've met is my cousin---we discovered her mutually and both try to spread the word. In its own way, it's rather like a religious quest: one goes out and tries to make converts. Mme. Hardy's music is certainly worth the effort. I'm looking for video, too. A correspondent of mine in France (whom I've yet to meet) has been kind enough to send me a great deal of Françoise material culled from S.L.C. and other magazines of the period, but no luck with video....to date. "Around The World", the cd one of the other contributors to this guest book was looking for, is easily found in America. What else?....Keep up the good work---vive Françoise! She's one of a kind. Like all great music her work encapsulates and embodies a particular time (the 60s, specifically France's 60s), yet continues to communicate to us today. And it's nice to know one isn't the only Françoise Hardy fan in the world. So greetings and salutations to all of us! Thanks again.

Hi there Joseph. Thank you for visiting, and thank you for your comments. I will see what I can do about increasing the volume of information. No, you are certainly not alone - Françoise's songs seem to appeal to people everywhere. I will pass on the information about the "All Over the World" CD.

Jay Bartlett (from Boston, Massachusetts, USA) visited on Friday, 12 February, 1999 and said:-

It's great to know there are people who understand the impact this wonderful singer has had on the world music scene. If she started today, she would eclipse any and all of the singer songwriters now performing. Keep up the good work. Please let me know if there are locations where I might find videos of Françoise. Also did she ever put out a live recording?

Hello Jay. Thank you for visiting.
There are, as far as I know, no official videos of Françoise Hardy available, but there are people who have recorded TV appearances, and some fans have quite a collection of these.
As far as I know, there are no live recordings either. Unless anyone else knows better ...

HELLO! FRANÇOISE HARDY'S FANS: HERE I AM AGAIN, I'M JOING YOUR EXCELLENT PAGES. I THINK THEY ARE WONDERFULL, CONGRATULLATIONS.

Hello Amancio. Thank you for you for visiting again, and I'm glad you found something worth coming back for.

I FIRST HEARD TITLE IS "SI MI CABALLERO". VERY NICE I'M HAPPY. 3TH DISK KOREA. YOUR SONG IS DRAMA AND MOVIE AND FM RADIO... FROM ABOUT 20 YEARS KOREA FAN.

Hello Alan. Thank you for your message. Are Françoise's records released in South Korea, or do you have to import them?

Jessica (from Bellevue, WA, USA) visited on Sunday, 24 January, 1999 and said:-

I was first introduced to Françoise Hardy when I picked up a copy of the single "To the End" by Blur. I've been a fan ever since!!! My French isn't as good as I'd like it to be, so I want to thank you for the lyrics. Keep up the good work!!!

Hello Jessica. Thank you for your interest in my FH pages. It's good to hear from a fan who has been introduced to the music of Françoise this way. Keep listening to the songs, and your French will soon improve.

Milo Baumgartner (from Zurich, Switzerland) visited on Thursday, 21 January, 1999 and said:-

Great, Great, Great. For along time I was thinking I am the only person who still knows Françoise, but thanks to the internet, there are a lot of Fans too.
I still went to school when I get my first EP "Le temps des souvenirs". Now, this week-end i will go to Strassbourg to a Record Fair at the Wacken Centre. I hope, I still can find something of Françoise's EP's, LP's or CD's I still don't have in my little collection.
O.K., that's all for the moment, but I would like to thank you and Georg Rommerskirchen to put such great pages about Françoise in the Internet.

Hello Milo. Thank you for your comments. I'm sure there are still many, many fans out there, and the Internet will help to bring us all together. I too went to a Record fair in the UK this weekend, and there were some, but very few Françoise Hardy records. I hope you fared much better.

Kit Ashenhurst (from Calgary, Alberta, Canada) visited on Monday, 18 January, 1999 and said:-

Happy birthday to a wonderful singer. I have been a Françoise fan for some 30 years plus.

Hello Kit. We missed Françoise's birthday by a day, but I'm sure she would not mind. It's good to hear from somebody else who has been a fan for so long.

Jacqueline (from Sydney, Australia) visited on Saturday, 16 January, 1999 and said:-

Hi!! what a fabulous site..and its good to see that Françoise still looks stunning, and is still going strong. My intro to her was "Tous les garçons..." in high school, followed by "Oh-oh Cherie"..we listened to these for our French lessons! Unfortunately my French did not improve, but my musical taste was sharpened. It's a pity we didn't hear more about Françoise down here, but I don't think Australia is very sophisticated, more's the pity (I was definitely born in the wrong place!!!) But thanx to great sites like yours, we can be in contact with other people of great taste..
Best wishes to you and all Françoise fans!!

Hello Jacqueline. Thank you for your comments. Teachers are still using Françoise Hardy songs to help in their French lessons - I have had a few requests for help.

John Lynch (from Bartow, Florida USA) visited on Tuesday, 5 January, 1999 and said:-

Warren, I believe I first visited your site back in August, it was wonderful then and seems even better now. Françoise Hardy is such a wonderful singer; I hear such honesty and tenderness and purity in her voice. I don't believe she has cut a disappointing song -- this can not be said of very many artists -- and she just never seems to be compromising or trying to impress. Although she has probably had the good fortune to work with some very good people, I believe there must be something much more than only that to it. Thank you for putting this site together -- I am not sure I have ever met anyone face to face who has even heard of Françoise Hardy; I wish everyone could hear her. Also, although I am not into astrology, generally speaking she seems to be the type of person one would like to have as a friend, wife, girlfriend, mother, sister, neighbor, etc.

Hello John. Many of the songs that Françoise sings were written about events and situations in her own life, so there is bound to be a feeling of sincerity in those.
As for coming face to face with other fans, I had never met another fan until recently. Now, thanks to the power of the Internet, I have met several, and am destined to meet more!
